West Midlands Search & Rescue or WMSAR is a specialist land and water Search and Rescue organisation providing support to Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, and the West Midlands.
We work in partnership with the Hereford & Worcester Fire & Rescue Service, West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service across the West Mercia Region to provide Search and Rescue services 24 hours a day 365 days a year!
To ensure maximum coverage and short response times, WMSAR has 2 stations (Worcester & Telford) and a Satellite team based in the Shropshire Hills.
WMSAR is a completely voluntary organisation and we rely 100% on public donations and fundraising to ensure our crews all have the required level of training and a high standard of equipment for use in various situations.
WMSAR is a member of the Association of Lowland Search & Rescue (ALSAR) and the allocated team for the West Mercia Police Region. Our Specialist technicians are usually deployed to assist Police with searching for missing persons (MISPER) in and around the region.
Water Search / Swift Water Rescue
Our Specialist water rescue teams are all trained to an internationally recognised standard and support all Water Search and swift water rescue scenarios. This can be slow manoeuvring in flood water incidents to a fast flowing river where there is significant risk to life for persons and animals.
As WMSAR is a registered member of DEFRA, Our specialist teams also assist with flood response from within the West Mercia region or on a National scale anywhere in the UK.
